NINH THUAN (my hometown)

NINH THUAN

Ninh Thuan province is lying in the middle of Central Viet Nam, has a small plain created by the Dinh River originating from Lam Vien Plateau. The province is famous for white-sand beaches, vast gardens of table grapes, onions and hot peppers. The province is also inhabited by a great number of the Cham ethnic minority people.

Ninh Thuan province with Phan Rang- Cham Towers as the capital is 350 km away from Ho Chi Minh City. Ninh Thuan has abundant and diversified potentialities of tourism with such beautiful
and original sights as Ninh Chu and Ca Na Beaches, a picturesque pass, Da Nhim hydro-electric plant and intact Cham towers built since the 12th and 13th centuries.

Visitors can enjoy the primeval wildness of the sea or visit ancient Cham Towers as Po Klong Giarai, Porome and Hoa Lai towers and watch Cham festivals like Kate and Ramuwan. The matriarchal customs have been preserved up to now without being influenced by the proceeding history.

Moreover, due to its close distance to Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, just in one day tourists can feel the autumn cool climate of Da Lat and the summer sunshine on Ninh Chu and Ca Na Beaches.

Ninh Chu Beach

Ca Na Beach

Ninh Chu Beach is located 6 km east of Phan Rang - Thap Cham. The beach used to be reserved for the exclusive use of President Nguyen Van Thieu, Chief of Ninh Thuan province and other high-ranking officials of the Sai Gon regime.

Ca Na Beach

Ca Na Beach is called "the sleeping Princess" because it still retains the wild. The weather is sunny and warm all the year round. Climb to the mountain, swim in the crystal - clear water in this place is very enjoyable. Tourists often take photos of rocks protruding into the sea, visit the Cham' s special cultural structures and some traditional villages.

Po Klong Giarai Towers

The Towers lie approximately 7 km east of the center of Phan Rang, near Thap Cham Railway Station. This group of four towers is the remainder of the group of six constructed during the 13th century.

Po Klong Gia Lai Tower

The main tower was dedicated to Po Klong King, who, according to the legend, bravely suffered from leprosy. Despite the passage of time, much remains of the four-sided, 21.59 m high tower. During excavation work of the area, French archaeologists found a number of gold and silver bowls and jewelers. Recently during restoration work, other gold bowls were found.

Porome Tower was built between the end of 16th century and the beginning of 17th century in Hau Sanh hamlet, Huu Phuoc village, Ninh Phuoc district. This monument consists of one main tower, which is dedicated to King Porome, and one supplementary tower, which was dedicated to the Queen. Like many other typical Cham Towers, Porome Tower has a square shape with 4 stories and is 8 meters high, with a nearly 8-meter wide base, and the door, which has the special style, faces to the East. Porome Tower is one of very few Cham Towers which has remained virtually intact up to now, and is the place where Cham people often pray to King Porome on festival days.

Horoscopes for September 5th

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Your reputation can be tarnished through the people you know. Take care that you're not blamed for the mistakes of others. When you know someone is about to do the wrong thing, warn him off.

Taurus (April 20 - May 21)
You're liable to let relationships take care of themselves, but this amounts to neglect. Just when you feel something is on-course enough to shift attention, something would be liable to go wrong.

Gemini (May 22 - June 20)
Undue influence can be brought upon you. Don't be led down the wrong path, either for the best of intentions or the gullibility of trust. Be aware of your values and stand up for them.

Cancer (June 21 - July 23)
You're liable to have public success, but personal or family issues are apt to go awry. You must endeavor to heal the hurting areas of your life, not simply go where it is easier.

Home life is easy for now, but pay attention to troubles on the horizon. Use the calm to ward off or mitigate disaster. Unexpected, abrupt behavior can cause unnecessary problems.
